The Vamps

If you haven't heard of this band or have heard of them but never gave them any thought, listen up, look them and check out their music and videos, here's a little information for ya if you're not in the loop. The Vamps are a band, the members are Brad Simpson who's lead vocals and plays guitar, Connor Ball is the bass guitars and does vocals, James McVey, currently incapacitated but is usually the lead guitarist and vocals, and Tristan Evans plays drums and vocals. Contrary to belief, the band isn't a boy band, but an actual band who play instruments and don't just dance around.

8:00am
Up and at em I was, I rarely wake up early but lately since there's all these bands and such coming down under I've been waking up and actually making an effort, amazing. I actually struggled so bad with choosing an outfit for this concert because all I wear is black, with maybe a hint of colour sometimes but that is a rare occasion. I decided to keep the look, with regards to clothing and makeup simple just in case flexibility was needed during the day, I didn't want to be worrying about my makeup and clothing, however, because my buckle on my shoe is broken, that was a worry for me throughout the day!

11:00am
I arrived in the city, not much information at all and a decision to be made about whether or not the trek to the airport will be worth it, but it was decided that instead of bumming around the city, I'd go to the airport with the squad. Coffee in one hand and phone in the other, it took a train and a bus to get there. But alas we arrived and of course another coffee was needed. Not many people knew exactly what was going on and upon arrival at the airport, there wasn't that many fans, the squad were getting impatient and angry as the time ticked and it was for good reason; more people were coming last minute, people were telling each other what to do and everything, goodness it was a mess and a half over a band that I never knew had such a large fan
base in Australia but whatever.

2:00pm
The squad decided to bail on the plan of attack at the airport because there were just too many people at the airport waiting, we knew we wouldn't have a chance inside, so we left. However, surprise, surprise, a mob of people followed us all the way out, even running after us, even though we were just calmly strolling alone. My life flashed before my eyes. Now I understand why Niall said privacy doesn't exist, this all sarcastic of course. We waited a bit and saw fans scattered everywhere. Finally we saw the van and I spotted James, who saw me and decided to turn his around, and saw Connor's little head just at the back. Not even a wave, nothing at all, they wouldn't have a bar of us at all.

3:00pm
I was so angry, the squad seething from not even getting a wave from the boys, we literally didn't want to try, like what was the point of it, if they wouldn't even stop and wave or get out of the van for a few fans waiting. It droves us all mad. We ended up making it to festival hall 3-4 hours before the show was actually due to start and we heard that The Vamps didn't meet or greet fans waiting outside the venue, so we didn't miss anything.

5:00pm
The squad ordered a pizza and one of us when walk abouts to get some water, all I remember from that is "you bitches owe me" after we all grabbed our water bottles and sculled it down. As soon as the pizza was delivered we ate every slice in seconds, it was like I hadn't eaten in years.

6:30pm
Doors opened and the nerves were kicking in. It'd been a long day, galloping around the airport, making our way into the city and to the venue and then waiting for hours before the show, I'm pretty sure I tanned thanks to all this waiting around. The squad had no luck in meeting them, our spirits were quite low but we tried to remain positive by taking endless amounts of selfies and chatting about the pointless things in life that seemed important at the time. As we saw everyone disappearing into the venue, we waited outside, for some reason I had this hunch that something good would happen and we were all prepared to miss the support acts, no matter what, we had to meet them.

And finally... It happened. At first there was just the squad, so six of us, a couple were missing throughout the day which sucked, and a couple of other people who I didn't know, but had essentially caught onto what were doing when they realised we weren't actually lining up or going inside.
One of our favourite security guards was with Finn earlier today and we said hey to them, and then we had spotted them walking out of the venue, the security guard telling us to be quiet, they didn't want to attract more fans and we kept our mouths shut.

After a few minutes of waiting, sweating and nerves wracking, we finally saw Brad and James walk out together, Dean behind them with a camera in his hand. No one screamed, I actually think we were all in shock that finally they were meeting fans in Melbourne. We were all lined up, it was surprisingly organised and calm which made the experience even greater.

I met Brad first and I was actually having an aneurism because I could've sworn James in front of him, and as he approached I was like internally squealing, until finally he was right up in my face. I was shaking a little bit but my voice was calm and composed. Brad was so bubbly and happy, and said "Hey, how's it going?" which I replied to with "I'm good, do you mind giving me a kiss," this all came out in a jumble of words I'm pretty sure so I don't know how he understood me but he blurted out, "How about you kiss me?" and he was smiling with glee and it was really incredible to see that.  After the kissing picture, we got another one of us smiling and he moved on but I moved so fast and was like "Brad" and extended my arm to him, completing my sentence, "Our picture is shit, do you mind if we get another one?" he laughed and said, "Of course," as he walked back to me. I didn't want him to leave and I don't even care if that sounds selfish, he was the biggest babe and a half and I felt all empty inside when he continued down the stream of fans.

James snuck up on me, I was still in shock and totally forgot I was meeting the other members, I'm pretty sure I was like squealing after I met Brad and I think I had hurt someone before he even came up to me. But James, was there and I asked calmly how he was and took a photo. He seemed very quiet and shy and I observed him throughout meeting fans and he pulled silly faces for every single person, it was actually adorable. Before he was out of my reach, I like reached out for him and said "Hey I hope your hand gets better," and he said, "thank you" with his cute, little accent.

Before Brad and James left and returned to the venue, I totally had a mind blank and only just realised Dean was right in front of me with a camera, I was like "Hey Dean", and he was like laughing at me but said "hey" as well. I didn't know what was funny all I was thinking is: If I'm in this footage of their tour I'll cry, oh my god did he capture me and Brad meeting, oh my god I hope I don't look like shit!  But soon returned to reality when Brad and James left, we all waved goodbye and quietly said "goodbye" as well.

We all anticipating that Connor and Tristan would come out but all I was worried about was my bladder because I was ready to burst! But I put that aside and celebrated meeting 2/4 of The Vamps, and listened to everyone's stories and watching their reactions. We all patted each other on the back metaphorically and praised each other for staying so calm... And then we spotted Connor and Tristan walking out of the venue towards the fans.

Connor and Tristan walked around, taking selfies and conversing with fans, but this time it was a little bit more rushed simply because more fans were gathering around and wanted to meet them too.
Connor was the first to approach me, he was actually so small and smiley and oh my god it was just adorable to witness. He greeted me with a "Hey, how's it going?" to which I replied, "Yeah, I'm good... Can I have a kiss?" and with my camera at the ready and no hesitation on Connor's behalf he immediately kissed my cheek and then we took another selfie of us being all normal. I don't really remember if Connor and I conversed more, to be honest, I don't really remember much of what I said to The Vamps and much of what they said to me.

Tristan was the last to meet me. Like James he was a little shy and reserved and I actually greeted him and asked him how he was before he could because he was that quiet but he did look very happy. Maybe Tristan and James just didn't expect such a reception in Melbourne or knew that were that many fans or maybe they were just simply jet lagged, we will never know.

7:00pm
After meeting all of The Vamps and having a massive freak out and showing each other our photos, we made a pit stop to the toilet. We all made our way into the venue half way through the Masketta Fall performance, we didn't know many of their songs but we were so happy that we just didn't care.
Short Stack absolutely killed their performance and it felt like they weren't even a support act but were the headliners of their own show. Throughout performing their song, Short Stack made me feel like I travelled back in time to my 13 year old self, it was crazy.

8:00pm
Finally, The Vamps were on. All I have to say is that mosh pit was so incredibly hot, sweaty and claustrophobic but oh it was so worth it. I couldn't see anything at all most of the time but as I moved through mosh pit when we all moved forward in syncronisation, I adjusted myself to see glimpses of the performance and took videos of of them performing their hearts out, but surprisingly I didn't get that many videos, I lived the experience to the fullest and enjoyed every moment of the concert.

10:00pm
Ears buzzing, adrenaline pumping, we all hoped to see The Vamps off but unfortunately missed them. But I didn't care, the experience of that entire day was so riveting and insane, I loved it.

ME N THE VAMPS

I looked so bad in every photo with the lads from the band but you can't blame me, I was running around Melbourne trying to meet them and the weather was just boiling so I ended up looking and feeling ugly.
