The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars is the annual celebration of the film industry and it's back again this year for the 87th Academy Awards. Although the awards are important, the red carpet event is pretty much the first thing you see, therefore it is just as important. As always, there were outfits that were absolutely breathtakingly the best of the best and then there were ones that were awful, terrible, any word you can think of that is equivalent to the worst dressed.

WORST DRESSED
First thing's first, let's take a look at the outfits were pretty much... Bad. Usually it's those tiny little things that put you off, but it can be the little things that drive you crazy and drive you to disliking an outfit immensely.
Lady Gaga in Azzedine Alaïa
I'll have to commend the effort that went into
this dress, it took two months to perfect it.
Had Gaga not gone a little... gaga? and added
the dishwashing gloves, I wouldn't have
hated this outfit, but because the gloves
stand out so much, it's hard to ignore it.
Rita Ora in Marchesa
The dress isn't the worst I've ever seen but I'm
still not a fan of it at all. Additionally, Ora
looks completely washed out with her make-
up and I just feel it was the wrong look to
wear on the red carpet. Very bland, very boring.
Solange Knowles in Christian Siriano
I simply hate this dress, it's like a massive
parachute that you'd be able to spot anywhere.
Nicole Kidman in Louis Vuitton
The only thing I like is Nicole Kidman's hair.
The dress is still really boring, it's a yawn fest
really. It's just a straight line, sequin dress
that's just been mashed together with the
wrong accessories.
UNDECIDED

Chloë Grace Moretz in Miu Miu
I'm being reminded of a dessert but I still
don't know how I feel about it.
Julianna Moore in Chanel
Okay it's Chanel but I'm not sure whether I
like it or dislike it.
Kerry Washington in Miu Miu
Kerry Washington is unbelievably flawless
but I felt like this was playing it safe and
kinda eh.
Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph and Russo Couture
Love the look and the dress but I'm not sure
if I like the rose on the shoulder.
BEST DRESSED

Now let's discuss the looks that we all couldn't stop talking about and awing over.

Emma Stone in Elie Saab
Emma Stone can do no wrong, like ever, on the
red carpet. With a red lip and a dress that
shows a little leg skin, but in a modest manner
Stone simply shines.
Scarlett Johansson in Versace
Scarlett Johansson doesn't even have to try!
Her makeup is simple but accentuates the dress
at the same time. I simply have no words.
Johansson is perfection and I am the colour
of her dress as I am green with envy.
Anna Kendrick in Thakoon
Anna Kendrick is my favourite person ever
she can do nothing wrong at a prestigious event.
Always pulling off an outfit, no matter how
simple or how eccentric. There's a pop of
colour but not too much, her makeup is simply
and essentially is just flawless.
Sienna Miller in Oscar de la Renta
I honestly love love love this and everything
about it. Sienna Miller has been killing the
red carpet events. Her style is modern, slick,
simple but so in your face at the same time.

Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford
The dress is unbelievably simple and
sophisticated, but bold and dramatic at the
same time. Witherspoon is so glamorous
without even trying.
Naomi Watts in Armani Privé
I loved that Naomi Watts took a risk on the
red carpet. Going for a pattern and even
exposing a black bandeau. I love this look, it's
not to out there but is enough to stand out
from the crowd.
Rosamund Pike in Givenchy
I love when a red dress is worn on the red
carpet and actually works out for someone.
Showing a bit of leg really made the difference
for Rosamund Pike. The strapless number
is definitely a show stopper.
Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent
Dakota Johnson always takes risks at events
such as these, and usually Johnson can work it.
The red gown is simply but has shape at the
same time.
SHOUT OUT TO THE MUM AND MUM TO BE

Kiera Knightly in Valentino
Hiding her baby pump Kiera Knightly pulls of
the Valentino gown and finally I like something
she's wearing for once. It's clean and simple
but has little details in the dress that mix up the
neutral trend.
Zoe Saldana in Atelier Versace
Showing off her post-baby body, Zoe Saldana
steps out in a neutral, bust-showing dress that
accentuates her curves. The dress is elegantly
simple, once again showing that neutrals
are proving to be popular on the red carpet.
THE NOTABLE: NEUTRALS, PASTELS AND DARKS

Jennifer Aniston in Versace
Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab
Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen
Anna Faris in Zuhair Murad
Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad
Jessica Chastain in Givenchy

Marion Cotillard in Dior Couture
Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Zuhair Murad
Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent
Meryl Streep in Lanvin
Cate Blanchett in Maison Margiela Couture
by John Galliano
Miles Teller and Keleigh Sperry
I AM SO HEART EYES OVER THIS
COUPLE THEY'RE SO HOT IT HURTS ME!
EYE CANDY

Now it's not just about the women's fashion, another topic of discussion is how dapper the lads can get at red carpet events. Majority of the time, the men don't stray away from the traditional suit or tux and tie or bow tie, but I'm not here to know about who the men are wearing, I'm just all about frothing over them, and that's me putting it quite bluntly.

Channing Tatum in Dolce & Gabbana
Chris Evans
Chris Pine in Giorgio Armani

Bradley Cooper in Ferrmago
Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen
Chris Pratt in Tom Ford
Ansel Elgort in Prada
Jared Leto
Josh Hutcherson
John Stamos
