CHANEL TIFFANY

This year I attended the 155th Melbourne Cup. I had never been to the event only ever heard from other people what to expect and watched the event on television so this was my first time to attend such a prestigious event that stops the nation. Although the event is about the horses and the racing, along with the betting, I definitely focus a lot of my attention on the glitz and glamour. The fashion has evolved through the years, with different looks, from the bold and dramatic to the simple but show stopping, it's all there.

THE DO'S, DON'TS AND SIDE NOTES

What I discovered thanks to the spring races is to definitely bring spare flat shoes or wear a more comfortable heel. I most definitely regretted my decision to wear heels that were not only quite high but wear uncomfortable after a few hours. My advice is that you wear shoes that you've broken into instead of wearing brand new puppies, the only reason I went with a brand new shoe is because it was the only shoe that suited the dress I wore.

I recommend wearing a dress or outfit of some kind that is comfortable but fashionable at the same time. You'll be standing around for hours and walking around a bit to at least stretch your legs or grab some food and drinks if you haven't bought your own. Although my dress was unbelievably beautiful, it was difficult to walk in at times. Due to the shape of the dress and the geometric cut, it was restricting at times to take bigger strides or walking down stairs, or even just to sit down. The dress was also not made for my height, so even with alterations it wasn't the easiest dress to deal with. However, I don't have any regrets with the dress I purchased because it was a definitely a winner in my eyes. So the tip here is to make sure your dress fits well, you want the shape, length, details, colour(s) and/or pattern to suit your body and height. In order to make sure it's the perfect dress, you want to try it on and wear it around a little just to get a feel of it.

I've noticed that even though a dress is the go to outfit for the day, you can definitely shake things up with a jumpsuit or a two piece set, just wear something you feel comfortable in. With regards to shoes, wearing heels isn't the shoe that you have to wear, you can wear flats or even wedges and still rock your outfit.

When it comes to hair accessories, hats and fascinators or just accessories in general, I usually go with simple is better, but some people like to go all out, it's each to their own. I personally like to match my accessories to the outfit I wear, so if you're wearing a certain colour then the accessories should be the same colour, but you don't want to look too bland so wear an accessory that will stand out, for example a colourful clutch, a bold bag, metallic jewellery or even a watch, so there's some sparkle, this will make the outfit pop.

With regards to makeup, you want a look that will last throughout the day so it's simple but effective, however once again there are others who might want a more bold look for their outfit. If you've gone for a simple outfit and accessories, I suggest a bright, bold beauty look, for example, a smokey eye or colourful lip, it'll help make your face shine and create a whole dynamic to the outfit you've chosen. However, you can go for a neutral look even if you've gone simple with the outfit. If you've decided to go for a daring outfit, a beauty look that's modest in nature would be perfect, so you can apply neutral eyeshadow tones and nude or pink lips.

WHAT I WORE TO THE SPRING RACES

#5 Melbourne Cup
#5 Melbourne Cup by chapel-tiffany

I wore the 'Hold Tight' by Cooper St, this is available in both black and white but I went with the white one. I paired this geometric dress with a strappy stiletto heel in white and a two-toned silver and white Gregory Ladner headband fascinator that had a sideman leaf with a bow and loops. For the accessories I wore a Tiffany & Co bracelet and a rose gold watch, along with a mini bag in teal, just to add some colour to the outfit. For my makeup I used Urban Decay's Naked 1 and Naked 3 palettes for my eyeshadow and Rimmel London's Nude Collection by Kate Moss lipstick in #45 A Rose Nude.

On the weekend I went to the Royal Melbourne Show, I think I've been probably once in my life but I'm assuming I was quite young because I remember nothing about that day! So if you're wondering what in the heck is a 'Royal Melbourne Show', it basically features amusement rides, attractions for your entertainment, arts and crafts, and food and wine needs, from animals to cultural diversity, it's all there. You could say it's an amusement park morphed with every single exhibition you could ever think of.

A decision to take public transport was made, and I think it was definitely the best choice. Although there was parking and the car is a lot more accessible, along with being in your private space, the traffic was absolutely insane so it would not have been worth it at all. Although trains were packed, the trip was quick and easy. So if you're ever going to a huge event like the Melbourne Show, I totally recommend public transport.

Upon arrival, the line for the tickets was large, but not too large, it took about 15 minutes to get our tickets, so the allocation of tickets was efficient. However there is always the option to purchase tickets and bundles online if you don't want to bother with being in a queue.

When you first walk into the show it's sort of crazy, you're bombarded with people walking past you, music blasting from the speakers and all the amusement rides with their booming noises, little food outlets, and different precincts with various things to meet your hearts content.

There are so many amusement rides in the place, it is honestly so overwhelming, you just want to try every single one! From screams of fear to laughter to the wooing in excitement, the reactions of people on the rides either sway you towards said ride or make you want to run in the other direction as fast as you can. Before deciding the rides to go on, observations were made and a lot of walking was done. I didn't realise how big the Melbourne Showgrounds was until walking around the place numerous times, I lost count after the third round.

The first ride I went on was the Taipan Rollercoaster, I hadn't been on a rollercoaster or even an amusement ride in years so I wanted to start with something that wasn't too crazy but was accelerating at the same time. It definitely got the blood pumping, heart beating a little fast and the adrenaline spiking through your veins.

Following the first ride I went walk about, checking out every thing possible, from the animal farm yards to dog shows, from the pop-up restaurants to the mini bars, from arts, crafts and cookery to fashion, style and home, from showbags to even a woodchop pavilion, the precincts and pavilions were endless and were so different to one another.

Afterwards, I walked past every single precinct and pavilion, I came across the 'Masterchef Australia' set. I was surprisingly starstruck by it even though it was just a building, I was also a little bit hesitant because I had no idea the show was actually filmed on the Showgrounds but thanks to a quick Google search and seeing the herb garden I knew it was the actual location. Walking onto the set location  was actually pretty awesome, it was obviously not filled with contestants cooking on their kitchen tops and the pantry wasn't there but everything else was there, the 'M' sign and the elegant balcony were there. There were fridges full of alcohol, little pop up stores selling various foods and providing samples, the entire place was filled with the aroma of foods and the bustling of people.

Once I was satisfied I had seen everything and been in every precinct and pavilion, at least having a little glimpse or taking the time to have a good look at everything, it was time for another amusement ride, it was time for a thrill-seeking experience. The ride that drew my attention was the 'Sky Flyer', it looked like a simple ride, but once you get on it's pretty much a riveting experience. You're basically sitting on a chair that soars through the air as it changes heights, going higher and higher, spinning round and round, this was my favourite ride of the day for sure. It felt like you were flying through the air and even though, from the ground, it didn't look that high, it was surprisingly high, you could see all of Melbourne.

The last amusement ride on the agenda after a little sit down and walk around was 'The Hangover', this was definitely the ride that made me most nervous, I was totally freaking out about this ride, I didn't want to go on once purchasing the ticket for it, but obviously I had to. Once on the ride and it started moving back and forth repeatedly, going higher and higher, I was regretting my choice of going on this ride, I was holding onto the shoulder pads for dear life. I screamed so much and felt so uneasy on the ride, especially when it flipped a 360 and would pause when it had spun to the top, it was honestly made me so nauseous, I thought I would end up vomiting during the ride or pass out, it was the such a freaky experience. After a couple minutes of the ride, I started to just concentrate and control myself from screaming, at the end of the ride I was just thankful to get off.

After the nauseating experience of an amusement ride, more walking around was done and it was finally time to eat. There was an abundance of food in the pavilion where every single cuisine you could think of was present and waiting to be tried. It was impossible to choose what you want to eat, it's even more impossible when you have no idea what you want in the first place!

One of the most wanted items at this event is a showbag, in these bags they include various items like food, magazines, toys, beauty products or really anything you can think of. It's really an overwhelming sensation when you walk into the Showbag Pavilion especially when you've been in a line for 20 minutes just walking up and down three times to get into one place where there is lack of oxygen and lack of personal space, it's questionable as to whether it's worth the wait or not. However, in the end you want to experience every single thing when you attend an event such as the Melbourne Show... Plus the Darrell Lea Showboat was indeed worth it!

If you're looking for something a little different, want to plan an activity that's worth while, or simply want to discover something new about Melbourne as either a tourist or even a local, well I just found the perfect thing for you and that's the Melbourne Star.

So if you're not a fellow Melbournian or you're simply out of the loop, you're probably thinking what the hell is a Melbourne Star? Well, it's sort of like a ferris wheel with a Eureka Skydeck: The Edge experience twist.

In all honesty, I didn't know what to expect from this experience, I thought it could either be really fantastic or just a plain let down. There had been a lot of controversy surrounding this attraction but to my surprise it was one of the most rewarding experiences that Melbourne had to offer.

The Melbourne Star is situated in Docklands within Harbourtown, so you can wine and dine or shop til you drop and then go onto the observation wheel for a little bit of a relaxing yet awe-inspiring experience or vice versa. Additionally, it's close to public transport and there's parking available, so it's convenient.

Upon approaching the Melbourne Star, you'll see pods continuously moving around and around. Once you have your ticket scanned you walk through a sort of gallery atmosphere and get your photo taken. There are rooms with novelty rides, those ones where you beg your parents for a few dollars just so you can use it, you know the type right? Like little cars you sit around and pretend you're driving in, that sort of thing. There's also a cute gift store you can visit once your journey on the Melbourne Star is over.

Melbourne Star during the day
When you've gone through the maze of the Melbourne Star's gallery setting, you're at the boarding deck and you're instructed on what to do and how to do it and then boom you're walking into the pods. What I found interesting was the fact that the pods don't actually stop for you when you're boarding, you simply hop on while the attraction continues spinning. Another interesting aspect of the attraction is that you don't even notice that the cabins are moving because they're moving ever so slowly. So you're literally standing or sitting in the cabin observing the City of Melbourne not even realising just how high you are, it's incredible.

Panorama inside the cabin
During the 30 minute ride in a spacious cabin, you're observing Melbourne from every angle through the clear glass while audio commentary is provided, giving you an insight into the significant suburbs and simple little facts about the sights you're seeing. You simply cannot go past getting those photography skills out and taking as many photos, or selfies, as you possibly can whilst on this journey. The only downside is that you don't realise how fast time goes while you're spinning around, and when it's over you just want to go back into the pod and keep spinning around, hoping that it never ends.

The Melbourne Star lights up at night!
With a 360-degree view of the city, you can't help but take in the atmosphere and feel completely awed by it, it's a completely breathtaking and interactive perspective of the city. And once you reach the very top, you feel like you're the King or Queen of the world, it's really an accomplishment in itself.

I highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone, it is worth every dollar you spend. The best part is that any time is the perfect time to go on the Melbourne Star, day time, night time, you'll get a magnificent view no matter what. This is definitely something to add to that bucket list of Melbourne experiences that you just have to try. It's a perfect for a family outing, date night or just a basic group thing. I guarantee you'll want to keep going back once you've tried it!

I honestly cannot believe how fast this year is going, honestly all I do is blink and the months and seasons are changing before my very eyes. So before I go and tell you about what lovely little things I got throughout the month, I'll recap my boring life for you all, maybe you'll relate to it. Also, if you want to share anything with me, don't forget that you can always comment on my blog posts or Google+ posts or Instagram posts, tweet me, tag me on Instagram or send me questions, feedback or general stories about yourself through my Tumblr. It'd be a pleasure to hear from you.

AFL IS BACK
As the AFL season has officially kicked off, I've been going to a few footy matches with some friends, it's been quite interesting. Although the games aren't always riveting, and I'm not usually watching my own team play, the atmosphere is electrifying, and I quite like going to matches.

Relationship goals?
NITTY GRITTY CAMPING

This month I went camping for a couple of days with a group of people, some I knew and some I had met just at this event, and it was actually so much fun. Now when I say camping, I say like there were tents set up but it was not in the wilderness, but near a populated area but I shall call it camping. The drive was long, I didn't think you could get a sore butt just from sitting in a car for about three hours but I have found out that it is possible. There were a lot of little towns I went past while on this journey, I had never heard of some of the places until that day. For example, there's a place called Yarck and another that goes by the name Yea. A majority of the towns had weird names but it was nice to drive past and see what I had never seen before. I didn't realise how big Victoria was and how many places I had no clue about. The location of the campsite was near Mansfield, which I knew of but had never been to this town. The town is quite populated and has such a lovely atmosphere. Mansfield is like a miniature Melbourne, without the skyscrapers and the steel buildings. It was a home away from home and I was in awe at everything I saw throughout the journey. Before reaching the destination, we made a pit stop at Mansfield, stretched out our legs and grabbed a quick coffee.

The open road
Once we reached the location, we pitched a tent. This was my first time actually setting up a tent, although I didn't do much and had help, it wasn't as difficult as it seemed. After it was set up, we unpacked out belongings, and relaxed. Downing food, drinks, playing pool and table tennis, it was basically all that consisted of this camping trip. Bon fires were set up every morning and night, sometimes they were burning throughout the day. If we ever got bored we just went to Mansfield for a bit to get some reception on our phones and be anti-social before heading back to the campsite and rely less on our phones and actually interact with people and occupy ourselves with things other than technology, crazy I know.

Camping aesthetic
Regrettably, I underestimated the weather, and packed a lot of clothing that suited a cooler climate, but a majority of the time, it was quite warm, but not too warm, just in between. Additionally, I actually participated in "water sports". One of the families on the camp had a boat and everyday a group of us would get on the boat and go tubing or watch others get smashed by water, which is surprisingly hilarious. I attempting the tubing myself and stacked it about three times, although it was scary at first, I had a blast doing it, and despite the water being absolutely freezing, you have so much adrenaline seeping through your veins that you barely notice it and want to keep going.

EASTER

Camping took place on the Easter weekend, so I received some treats whilst camping and once home received more. So much chocolate was eaten. I have to say, I'm 100% certain that the Reese's Easter Egg threw me off eating anymore of their stuff purely because it was so rich in flavour and I couldn't even finish it!

The Easter Bunny treated me well
FAST AND FURIOUS 7 AND AGE OF ULTRON

I also watched Furious 7 last month, for my thoughts on the film and the franchise as a whole, take a look at my blog post 'The Fast and the Furious'. I also watched The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I also posted about because it was so worthy of a blog post too.

Now this was before I entered the cinema and walked out crying by the end of the film

I've not posted in a while guys, it's been a busy time for me being back at university, studying and keeping up with multiple TV shows, even having the occasional marathon. Once again, the month of March has zoomed by like every other month. The work load of university is already piling up and a lot of study has been done, but I've also had time for relaxation and the like.

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER USING AN ARROW IN A FLASH AND THEN BREAK OUT OF PRISON?

As you well know I'm an avid fan of Arrow, The Flash and How To Get Away With Murder, I keep up to date with each of the shows. In response to HTGAWM which has just finished its first season and can I just say, excuse me at that ending...

I've also marathoned Prison Break, it's a relatively old show but damn it's a top notch show, I finished the entire series in five days and I just cannot believe it's over, I don't know how to go on with my life, I need it back, please let the rumour that there is a fifth season being made true. If you've never watched Prison Break or were like me and started to watch it and then suddenly stopped, maybe it's best you don't ever watch it so that you keep your sanity in tact. However, also, I advise you watch this show because it is the best thing you will ever watch and beats every other show I watch and have ever watched.

MAKEUP HAUL AND ALL THAT JAZZ

This month, like basically every other month I usually treat myself, from makeup to clothes to shoes, I'm a spender and I can't help myself, I'm sure some of you have this problem. So... Priceline, oh Priceline, had a sale, and of course I could not resist. I went to two different ones, the first I found nothing, zilch, nada, nothing at all, the place was filled with people but there were just items I didn't want or need or no items whatsoever. Of course, I am persistent and needed a few things so I made my way to another one, and the other store, it was literally a zoo. There was a massive line of people waiting to be pay for items and leave, as the line extended and I walked past a swarm of people with items in their hand and their phones and purses in the other, I made my way through the crowd and found the items I needed within 10 minutes. It was pretty hard to get my hands on items as some people would just stand there and stare at the items rather than grabbing what they wanted. Finally, I was out of there, breathing some oxygen instead some second hand stuff and suffocating amongst hungry women. The goodies I brought were the Revlon ColorStay Brow Maker Eyebrow Powder, Revlon ColorStay Eyebrow Pencil, Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Correct and a Manicare Precision Blending Sponge.

Now let's talk about the cosmetic products individually and what I thought of them when I tried them.

REVLON COLOURSTAY BROWMAKER EYEBROW POWDER

I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with the product, I think it's just because it's not what I initially expected. It's really just a three powder palette for your eyebrows, I'm used to eyebrow kits that have a wax and powder combination, like the Natio Eyebrow Kit which is one of my favourite products that isn't too expensive but is great in quality. I like the idea of the lighter shade powder being a highlighter and I always try to emphasis my eyebrows so this is my favourite part of the product. I can't quite explain why it's not my cup of tea, I mean it's not that bad but it's just not my go to product for my brows I guess. I think it's great that the palette consists of three shades, so it's suitable for everyone, and I like that Revlon have thought of everyone, but I also think it's a negative as not everyone will use all three shades. There are instructions on how to apply it and it generally consists of using all three of the shades, but obviously everyone has their own way in applying eyebrow makeup, I for one like a simple one shade of eyebrow powder and that's it. I personally, don't believe it was worth the price I paid, but I'm comparing this product to those that involve wax and powder palettes, such as Natio and Benefit Eyebrow Kits. Another negative is the fact that you technically needed more than this powdered product to complete the look, if you're after a sculpting look, you'd definitely need to use an eyebrow pencil, I think it this is due to the fact that the brush that comes with product isn't exactly one I'm used to, it's a thick angled brush rather than a thin one and I prefer a thin brush for better application it allows a sculpting look as well.

REVLON COLORSTAY EYEBROW PENCIL

I've always been a fan of eyebrow pencils, purely because they are easy to apply, it just involves one step and boom you're done. Once again, Revlon have thought of everyone and are quite diverse in the range of eyebrow pencil colours available. The application is simple, a few flicks under the brow to emphasise the shape of your eyebrows and then lightly filling in the brows where necessary and if necessary. As mentioned previously with regards to the ColorStay Brow Maker Eyebrow Powder, you'd probably use this in conjunction with the eyebrow pencil, however, it is entirely up to you, personally, I use both the powder and pencil together to get the sculpted and full look I want.

AUSTRALIS 4-IN-1 CONCEAL CORRECT

Okay this, this is my favourite product ever.  I've been looking for a multi-tasking concealer-corrector palette, with skin-perfecting shades that is decently priced but erases, corrects and conceals various blemishes. The purple shade erases dark circles, the green shade erases redness and the skin-coloured tones not only provide full coverage when concealing but looks natural at the same time. I am in love with this little compact, it even has a little mirror in it! One point I'll make is that I use 4 separate brushes for the compact, because I made the mistake of using one brush and the colours ended up blending together in the compact, which was so annoying.

MANICARE PRECISION BLENDING SPONGE

My pure curiosity beat me and I wanted to know what the fuss was about with this sponge things. This is my first time trying a blending sponge, I wanted to start off with something decently priced just to test it out and see if I actually like it. Safe to say, using a sponge to apply liquid foundation and blend concealer and such together is fantastic. Although most people think a sponge is just for liquid or cream based products by blending the products outwards around the face, towards the hairline and below the jawline, it needs to be noted that the Manicure Precision Blending Sponge can be used for powder based products by lightly dusting the powder with the sponge.

March Haul
Not only did I buy cosmetics this month but I purchased some groovy rings from Cotton On and another Kikki K notebook, I swear I'm so obsessed with that place, I am so concerned for myself. Obviously I purchased a few other things, but not everything needs reviewing and I'll be making blog posts about individual items that I love and outfits that I've worn. Be sure to follow me Instagram, Twitter, Google+, Polyvore and Tumblr, and subscribe to my YouTube Channel, to stay up to date with everything I'm up to. You can also ask me questions by commenting on my blog posts via Blogger or Google+, asking me on Tumblr or simply tweeting me or tagging me on Instagram. Hopefully you all enjoy my blog and subscribe via the sidebar or through the link, it'd mean a lot to me!

As you may know, or may not know, I'm a university student, in my second year in fact. For me the best part of university is the social aspect for sure, I mean yeah education is awesome, but add in a diverse culture, people, activities and food, and it's practically a great experience for however long you're there for.

For those who aren't sure what O'Week actually is, it's a week where you explore your university. Now every university is different of course, the information I provide is based on my experience, so just take it as a guide.

First of university, it was safe to say that I was crapping myself, like after year 12, you think hey I got this, I can't wait to be free of the constraints of the system that is high school, but boy oh boy does it get even more confusing! However, don't you worry yourself over that, universities are really helpful, although the communication is way different, whereby you have certain and very specific people to contact about certain things. For example, say you want help with planning a course structure, you can contact the faculty you're apart of and they'll for sure provide you with the support you need. If you need help in regards to financial matters or anything else specifically, there are always particular offices to visit and people to contact either face to face, through a phone or via email or even social media. There's also the matter of a university being much larger in comparison to high school, the campus(es) is bigger and there is a larger population of students. At the start it can be difficult to wrap your head around the change but like anything, if your routine is to a level of repetitiveness, you'll totally get used to it. Even as a second year student I still have trouble with certain things. I was a mess in first year, received different information from people, didn't know where anything was, transferred courses mid-year and all those problems students face, but once you seek support, ask questions (don't be afraid of that), you'll be fine.

Just so you know, although certain aspects of O'Week aren't compulsory, I highly recommend you participate in O'Week, especially when you're a first year, and even if you're not, it's always good to go and just enjoy the atmosphere. Although you may find faculty welcomes, course information and university tours boring or even a waste of time, based on my experience, you meet people just like you; afraid to make friends, scared to be at university, unsure of yourself really. Everyone is in the same boat. So it is advised for first years that you attend everything, you may think you know it all, but sometimes you don't and there's no harm in finding out more information.

Now that all the information overload has been discussed, it's time to get into the exciting elements of O'Week. One of my favourite things is receiving free stuff, and oh lord do you get bombarded with the free stuff. Free pens, free iced coffee, free food, it's basically a free for all paradise! There are mini markets, sort of boutique settings, clubs and societies that you can join and plenty of other things to keep you occupied. Picture the scene in Pitch Perfect where Beca explores her college and comes across the acapella group 'Bellas', it's exactly like that, you just walk around looking at different groups you can join and sign up for activities like sports, bar crawls and so on. When I go to O'Week, no matter what day it is there's always something happening, from a live DJ, to a live local band, to roller coaster rides, yes you heard right, roller coaster rides, it's always a party.

I'm not sure how it goes for other universities, but mine provides an itinerary according to your course and provides you with the specifics and also the general activities. On my itinerary, information sessions, help sessions, tour guides, the times for when there was the free food and the opening of markets, clubs and societies and a whole lot of other, diverse programs. There's not just the usual schedule to look forward to but there are numerous activities that are for the students as a whole, so it's not singular in regards to only providing activities for those who study a certain course.
Usually, student's organise events at the university. A mystery bus tour is one example, where you're in a bus with other students and play drinking games and just get to know everyone. There's also movie night; where students are invited to watch a movie outdoors. There's a comedy night, this is self-explantory. And last, but not least, parties are held at the university and also at certain venues. All of these events allow you to experience the social culture of university first hand.

You're basically spoilt for choice when it comes to O'Week, there's so much to experience. The aim of O'Week is to not only let students take in the surroundings and get to know other students, but also to create an atmosphere that is enjoyable. Going to O'Week is the best decision you will ever make.

With regards to outfit choices for O'Week, I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. I've gone for the crop top and shorts option or dress option, and paired it with a platform shoe that adds height without it being uncomfortable. You could always wear jeans, a top and sneakers, it's entirely up to you. In my first week of university, I saw someone wearing their pyjamas, no judgement at all, sometimes you just don't have time to get pretty for university.

Although I've spoken of the perks to O'Week with regards to the events and activities and the overall experience, the week is also for preparing your studies. Generally, this helps you to survive through university and let's you get a head start in the coursework. So if you're doing O'Week, although it's all fun, exciting and overwhelming, it's best to be level-headed, check out the resources you'll need, especially online resources, check that you have all your textbooks and everything you need for the journey ahead. Create a plan, write important dates down, note down your timetable, make sure you know where your classrooms are located and if you're ever stuck, contact your university and ask for help, ask as many questions as you need to, no question is ever dumb.

And that my friends is how you survive O'Week.

If you have any questions about anything at all or want to share your own experiences with me, contact me through social media like Twitter and Google+, tag me on Instagram posts, ask me a question via Tumblr, or simply comment on this blog post.

February is that month where you blink and sneeze and suddenly March is there. I don't know how I caught my breath in February it just went extremely quickly. What I hate about month's that go fast is the fact that I regret my actions, whereby I think I could've done more, I can do more, I hate not being productive, and in the end it just simply feels like a waste of a month. I achieved many things that were on my 'to-do list', both mentally remembered and physically written down, but many were overlooked.

At the moment, I still don't have a repetitive routine at the moment, it's merely because I'm on holidays, the schedule is ever-changing rather than fixed, this is the reason why I can't wait to start university again. I'm in my second year of university (still sounds weird to me, life is moving fast, I'm getting older, it's just... weird) and boy have I been itching to get back. I love the atmosphere, and I miss it, I miss learning and seeing people, friends, new faces and those who educate me. Although a routine is not in order, I have made a timetable, written many important dates in my diary and am organising my life, albeit slowly, but it is getting done.

One thing that I did do in the month of February was cut my hair. It was time to cut my long, mostly dead hair and go for a new look. Although sometimes I regret cutting it, I think opting for the healthier option that may be short, is more important than trying to fix already dead hair. It's just those little changes that'll make your day, week, month and even year better than ever.

FEBUARY HAUL

As some of you know, I'm borderline, or even completely obsessed with Kikki K and their stationary, particularly the Live Bright range. I previously purchased a leather diary, leather pencil case, a set of pens and the infamous tomato pen, but couldn't stop there. I decided to buy a leather notebook, leather wallet/clutch, a hardcover notebook and of course, more pens, these are ballpoint rather than ink gel so there is a difference. The Live Bright range is limited edition, Kikki K ranges change every season so I was lucky to have purchased most of the range, as most stores were selling out. The moral to the story is that, these purchases are well worth it, and will really motivate me to study and actually write everything down rather than be attached to a form of technology, I'm taking a step back in time and actually writing... crazy innit?

Another step in getting my life together was actually purchasing a brand new bag. I have a lot of bags, but they're quite petite in size, I needed a bag that was big enough to fit a laptop, textbooks, binder, a notebook and other bits and bobs... And I found that bag. Let me tell you, it is quite huge, like I now know how Hermione feels with that beaded bag that has an undetectable extension charm.

The infamous bag that'll fit everything
Although most of my purchases are necessary, some are purely for pleasure, they are more wants than needs, however a majority of the time I trick myself into believing they are needs, but who hasn't done this? Shoes and clothes are definitely my weakness, I need it all, I tell myself every time I make a purchase. In the end, the guilt of the purchase is outweighed by the amount of times I wear the item(s), so it's justifiable.

Valentine's Day goodies

VALENTINE'S DAY

I completely forgot to post a Valentine's Day post, that's how fast this month went. I also hesitated in writing the post alone as I thought well, readers may not be interested. I instagrammed photos and thought it was enough but hey why not give you the dirty details.

Valentine's Day, this a day made for couples to celebrate their love and blah blah blah, right? Wrong, it's more of a normal day, a social culture or structure made for human beings such as ourselves to spend incredible amounts of money on flowers, chocolates and restaurant food. Is it just me or does everything increase in price during Valentine's Day? What's that they say? Love is blind? Some may argue it's not a pointless celebration purely due to the religious celebrations, it honestly depends on how you look at it. I'm all for celebrating a religious figure and making a festival out of it.

Although I'm against the whole Valentine's Day thing, I think it is quite cute to celebrate a relationship on this day, once a year, every year. It's a given you'll be sucked into the lovey dovey notion that is Valentine's Day.

On Saint Valentine's Day, I woke up and got ready, getting myself pretty and what not. I was greeted with a bouquet of roses and a box of Lindt 'Strawberries and Cream' chocolates, safe to say I was in the romantic spirit.

Stereotypical roses and chocolate
Before going out on a date, what better way to celebrate the holiday than watching Fifty Shades of Grey, I shan't be going into details, if you're interested in my thoughts on the film, check out the post for it.

After watching the Fifty Shades of Grey film, I was a mix of emotions, but was ready to go out. A restaurant reservation was made, but unfortunately, after a 45 minute drive and at least 20 minutes of looking for a parking spot in the hustle and bustle of the city, on a busy day such as this, we opted for a different restaurant on the lovely Lygon St, famous for it's culture and food. The restaurant was called 'Piccolo Mondo', the reception was a little slow, but it was expected as the place was pretty busy. I devoured half a dozen oysters, chips and half a chicken parmigiana, alongside a glass of champagne and a piece of cheesecake.

Overall, February was full on. From Valentine's Day, to a haul of goodies, to purchasing brand, spanking new items, to smashing through How To Get Away With Murder, Arrow and The Flash.

The first month is always the hardest to get through, you want to tackle all your New Years Resolutions at once and your head is spinning because it's actually a new year. I don't know about you, but January went so quickly for me, I blinked and the month was over. I felt like I hadn't achieved anything at all! A lot of my New Years Resolutions went untouched, mere memories to me.

Onto the pressing issue at hand, how did I actually get through January? Despite the fact that I do not have a repetitive routine at the moment, I plan to motivate myself to at least tick off a majority of my New Years Resolutions, one at a time. One of my secret resolutions was to motivate myself by getting ready every single day. This sounds silly but I feel a lot more motivated in tackling the day and its tasks when I plan my outfit the night before and begin the day by waking up, washing my face, moisturising and then getting changed into the chosen outfit based on the weather of the day. Then of course, making a coffee, 1/4 cup of milk, steamed and frothed, 1 sugar, 1 short black, and voila there's a latte for you, if you're bothered making it yourself and releasing your inner barista. Although this is a regular daily routine, due to the fact that my sleeping pattern is quite muddled at the moment, I wake up at different times every morning, and the resolution here is to fix the sleep pattern, or non-existent one and then I'll be content. Main object here is to go to bed earlier, wake up earlier, and continuously do this and train my body. Hopefully when I update you guys on this, I'll have accomplished this, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

One of the other ways I got through the quickest month ever, is buy purchasing stationary from Kikki K. If you're like me and have a love for stationary, then you'd know that there's nothing better that stationary shopping and owning new stationary. Whenever I buy stationary I feel like a new person and feel so organised.

I am in love with my Kikki K diary, it's got everything I need and I brought matching pens for the diary and plan on buying the entire range because I know I'll be owning everything for a very long time. I try to take time out of my day to write in the diary and organise myself, sometimes I don't really have the time and just fix everything when I do. But other than that, not only do I feel organised but the stationary is so pretty! If you're looking for alternatives to Kikki K, check out Typo, NoteMaker, OfficeWorks, Kate Spade and Kaisercraft.

Now to the beauty buys of January, a girl can't resist buying makeup, it's a necessity.

Thanks to Priceline I received a $5 voucher, it's not much but it really tempted to purchase something. Strolling through the beauty aisle, I laid my eyes upon this cheap smoky eyeshadow palette. I'd never heard of the brand, but it was $3, I couldn't resist. The 'Beauty Essentials' eye shadow palette consists of 10 smoky shades. I was skeptical of how cheap it was but when I finally tried it, the results were shocking. The pigmentation wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and the coverage lasted a lot longer than expected. I enjoyed trying smoky eyed looks and found it enjoyable to use the palette. The only downfall is that I hate eyeshadow applicators, I mean the applicators do the job but I'm more of a fan of brushes as the brush makes it easier to apply and the coverage is better. But that's just a small flaw in my eyes, the palette is $3, and despite the price tag, the palette quality is at a good standard. There is also a natural eye palette but I was unable to find it, but when I do, I'm so buying it.

I didn't just buy the eyeshadow palette, but brought something I'd be dying to have for a while now. The Australis 'AC ON TOUR' Contouring and Highlighting Kit has been causing a rave and I wanted to know what the fuss is about. For me, I'm new to properly contouring using highlighters and bronzers, as I have a compact that can allow you to slightly contour. The thing that I love about the kit is the fact that there are instructions included, so you're not going in blind or have to look up how to contour or watch tutorial videos, for me I don't have time so written instructions are ideal. For me, as I'm not a professional makeup artist and I'm just learning as I go along, I found it really difficult to contour and highlight but I can't wait to get this down pat.

And that my friends, or readers, is how I got through January. I hope 2015 doesn't go as fast as the first month of the year did because I do want to blink without fast-tracking to a new month and live a little you know.

'How I Got Through January' Kit

It's that time of the year where you become a cliche, where you decide to make a list of resolutions for the New Year and NEVER stick to them, where you stick a bunch of notes everywhere so you see them but still ignore them, or where you fill your diary but never look at it and quit using it half way through the year? Does this sound like you? I know it sure sounds like me. I hate or admit it but the fact is... I'm lazy and I can't stick to anything I put my mind to. However, this year, I'm kicking my own ass and I will stick to New Years Resolutions I make.

Hopefully you all relate to this and enjoy the post. Let me know what your New Years Resolutions are by commenting on this post, tweeting me, posting a picture on Instagram and tagging me or comment on the Google+ post, whatever is easy for you, I want to see what you guys want to achieve this year and if you're sticking to them throughout the year because throughout the year I will be posting about how I'm going sort of updating you, maybe even motivate those who can't stick to their resolutions. But first, I'll tell you all about my resolutions, some are easier said than done but I'm ready to make this my year.

First, foremost, the ultimate goal that I know I'll struggle with is having an early night. I can never follow a schedule, like I physically cannot write a schedule down with specific times and what not for numerous activities and then go and do exactly that. I've tried to download timetable apps and make a schedule, I've tried writing down a schedule physically and on a computer and stuck it on my wall, but nothing has worked. I still go to bed at abnormal times. It's been said that it's best to go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday and I'll try to attempt this, however it'll be difficult due to study patterns and particularly depends on my university timetable which I've not received yet for the new year. I decided to purchase a diary and planner in one, I'll show you it when I've received it and maybe do a tutorial on how I decorate and organise my life in one little book. I used to own a diary and felt more comfort in owning one, however, I need one that'll last me a lifetime and soft and hard cover diaries are disposable and have to be replaced each year. The planner will allow me to schedule my days out and not only will this motivate me to sleep earlier and fix my sleeping pattern but it'll help me feel more organised! The plan here is to morph a number of resolutions I'm making this year with this diary, the obvious ones are with regards to sleep and organisation but also, it'll allow me to plan out breaks and breathing time for myself. It sounds silly but a break is like a reward for yourself. You do work for an hour, have a 10 minute break; eat, nap, grab a coffee, grab some food, do whatever you want and appreciate it BUT then go back to working. This is particularly for those in school or university, but also, it can be for everyday life, try to stay active and keep your mind busy throughout the day. Although I love that I'll be trying to be more organised, I also want to be spontaneous, a bit of spontaneity is needed in life.

Another resolution of mine is to exercise more and eat as healthy possible. Incorporating a little bit of exercise into your life is necessary and very good for you. For many, exercising is a means to lose weight, but that's not the only reason to exercise. When I exercise I feel amazing and after whatever physical activity I do, I feel a lot better about myself and more positive. Exercising can be fun, find an activity you like. Personally, I like long distance running, sometimes interval training if I don't have much time on my hands, and I also have my own circuit training routine. I'm aiming to do about 30-60 minutes of exercise, if not more, a day. With regards to eating healthy, I don't plan on cutting any foods out of my life, what I mean by healthy eating is eating whatever I please but in a decent portion. Like if I want potato chips, I won't have a large packet, I'll have a handful or two, if I want to have 2-4 coffees a day, I'll cut down my sugar intake, for example, I'll have one teaspoon in my pure coffee but have 1/2 a teaspoon or none at all of sugar in an instant cup of coffee. It's just the little things that make a difference. I am an advocate in cutting NOTHING out of your diet, eat anything you want but be smart about it and don't forget to treat yo self.

One of the most important resolutions is to study smarter. I've tried every trick in the book for studying, from physically writing out notes from textbooks to typing notes to recording voice notes of me reading said notes to writing in different colours to using different coloured paper to everything you can possible think of! For me, I've had to change the way I study because university is a lot different to school. There is memorisation required but mostly you need to apply your knowledge particularly in law, which is what I study if you're a new reader of blog or just didn't know. I tried to physically write notes from textbooks, lectures and tutorials but couldn't keep up with the content so now I just type out my notes from the textbook and refine them during lectures and tutorials. The main objective this year is to stay ahead at least by one week or more if possible, depending on the subject. Printing out the readings and highlighting is what I've done for years and will continue to do because it helps me out a lot with assignments and exams because I organise them and write notes and all that jazz. My studying techniques might be different to yours, so what I suggest is that try different techniques and see what works for you, it's sort of like a trial and error.

Another hurdle this year is technology. I am one of those people who is constantly attached their iPhone and is always on a MacBook. BUT, the reasons a justified most of the time. Learning environments and institutes are circulated around technology so the thing is, you can't really escape the cycle of using a phone or laptop, because you need it to access certain materials and communicate with teachers, lecturers, tutorials and just a particular institute if need be. Slowly as we all develop, we all become more tech savvy and rely more upon technology. Don't know the answer to something? Google it? Don't know when that new movie comes out? Google it? Want to buy something? Go online. I love that technology is a convenient means for us and it is always helpful. Answers are at the palm of your hands. However, I feel like we simply rely too much on technology. If you're going out with friends, put your phones down and communicate, put them in the middle of the table and whoever picks it up first has to pay for everything or has to complete a dare or just think of an idea to stop yourselves from constantly using devices when you're with other people. If you want to go shopping, go to the store, although I love that online shopping exists and can be cheaper, sometimes the experience of going out and taking in some fresh air or the social aspect of shopping is a lot more fun than sitting at your computer and browsing. Basically, the challenge for me is to quit with using technology on a constant basis. It sounds silly because hey I'm a blogger and avid social media user but what I mean is that I won't be constantly loading and reloading Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and so on when I'm bored, but simply find something to do.

One last resolution of mine which will absolutely be just difficult as my other ones is to spend less. I am a confessed shopaholic BUT I don't by items that way above my budget, I buy decently priced items but usually I just buy too much of one thing. I need to save my money but I just can't help but spoil myself, sometimes retail therapy just destresses me and I love that smell and feeling of a new purchase... and wow this is going to be incredibly difficult.

I've concentrated on a small number of resolutions rather than listed a million resolutions because if you make a long list of what you want to achieve you'll never achieve them. If you have more resolutions, maybe achieve them one at time before starting a new goal.

Happy new year everyone, stay safe, healthy, be happy and live life to the very fullest.

Also you may have noticed that I changed the URL of my blog, I felt like this fitted me a lot better and it'll correspond real nice, and hopefully you all get used to it because I don't know if I will. Don't forget to subscribe to my blog, and follow me on Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Google+ and Polyvore.

It's stress season, exams are approaching and that procrastination is setting in. Personally, I know how it feels to be unprepared or disorganised before a major assignment, presentation, test, or exam and I'll base my, I guess, advice on this and how to beat procrastination, disorganisation and just feeling like absolute crap or having unwanted pressure or having exceptionally high expectations of yourself.

The first step is to clean up. Clearing your desk of objects, papers and bits and bobs seems a bit of draining exercise but trust me, once it's clean and clear and has only what you actually need on top of that desk then you'll feel much more motivated to actually study. When I clean up my desk, I end up cleaning my entire room and feeling so much fresher than I was when there was mess. Organise your pens, pencils, highlights and such in a pencil case or in a section of the desk. Try not to leave all your materials lying around because you'll waste time trying to find items. Have your textbooks, writing books, loose leaf and whatever you need for each subject together in another section of the desk or on a bookshelf or somewhere you can grab them easily. If you've got your computer, laptop or tablet, have it set on the desk where you would usually complete work, and when you actually go to complete homework, work or study, set it aside in another place accessible. I personally have a desk that has two sections, the top half is where I place my textbooks, writing books and MacBook when I don't need to use it and the second section where I have all my other materials like pens, pencils, highlighters, etc. and it's usually where my MacBook is when I need to use it. I put everything at the top that I don't currently need and the bottom section is clear, clean and fresh, like a blank canvas.

My personal space
Make sure you place every item back where it was, create a habit of this and you'll feel much more organised.

The next step is notes and reading. Now preferably, notes should be taken every day or week while at school or university, but sometimes you either have no time or just cannot be bothered. If you've not been note taking throughout the term, semester, trimester or year, there's no need to panic. Majority of the time when you've attended classes, lectures, tutorials, practical classes, etc. you've retained information, so at least you have something to base your studying off. There are many things you'll accidentally remember just from listening to your teacher, lecturer, tutor or students. Now if you're wanting to write notes for studying then I recommend you read through the necessary, prescribed textbooks, and highlight everything you need to know, but don't highlight every sentence, just key words or headings are needed. Also, use different colours when highlighting, just so you can categorise topics or chapters by colour and remember them that way. Once this is done, either type on your computer or physically write out notes based on these readings with the highlighting as a guide. I myself, am one to write notes out, sounds old-fashioned but using a blue pen and writing it out physically helps you remember things easier, but that's not to say that typing out your notes, printing them out and reading and re-reading them won't help either. I also like to create mind-maps with just key words so I can test myself. I personally, listen to music while I write notes, but when I read I don't listen to music because it's distracting, but everyones different in their studying techniques.

Once I've written notes, read the textbook(s) and created little mind-maps and such, I hang these notes, mind-maps, etc. in places around the house which I will always see. This technique actually makes you stop and read and can help you retain information because you're continuously exposed to it. As weird as this sounds, I also make voice notes of myself reading the thorough notes I've written and listen to them as I sleep. I've heard this technique works so I tried it out myself and the crazy thing is that it actually does help you remember, so I recommend it to anyone who wants to find a somewhat easy way to remember your topics for each subject.

Studying doesn't have to be stressful. In fact, learning should be fun. I for one feel that learning and studying have become a hated chore because of the expectations placed on us and the pressures we face. Hopefully, these tips will help you feel more relaxed, more organised and more willing to learn about each subject you're studying. Like I said, everyone has different study techniques and if they work for you, then work it.

QUICK TIPS

  • Go out and buy yourself highlighters of every colour you can find.
  • Make sure you use your desk for studying, don't hop into bed and try to study, the bed is for sleep only.
  • Use loose-leaf instead of physical writing books, this way you can organise them into a folder.
  • For notes, use cue cards. I find them helpful because they're brief notes and I'll take them with me everywhere I go and read them, therefore remembering the material a little easier.
  • Prepare yourself doing practice exams or asking your teacher, lecturer or tutor for additional questions.
  • Ask for help if you need it!
  • Start a study group with friends or your peers.
  • Compare answers to questions with friends and peers.
  • Do the questions in your textbook or questions given to you by your teacher, lecturer or tutor.
  • Get adequate sleep, 8+ hours is the perfect amount of sleep, but recently, there's been research about sleep and that it depends on the person on how much sleep they should get. I recommend going to bed and waking up at the same time every single day.
  • Have 15 minute naps once a day, maybe after school or university.
  • Don't stay up late finishing work, the latest you should finish homework or studying is around 9pm. Go to bed early and wake up early to finish the work you haven't finished because your brain is more refreshed in the morning.
  • Have a balanced diet, don't overdose on the sugar.
  • Stay hydrated, have at least 2 litres of water everyday, keep a water bottle on standby.
  • Take 15 minute breaks after you've studied for about an hour, so stretch it out, go for a walk, shower, pamper yourself or schedule in an exercise routine.
  • Try not study every second of the day, you'll drive yourself crazy.
  • Don't forget to breathe and relax.

Omg guys, I got my first comment ever on a blog post and it's safe to say I totally freaked out like a total loser! I continuously tell you guys how much I absolutely love the interaction on social media and how much it helps me write posts for you to read, hopefully you guys keep up the commenting, asking me questions or just general comments through Ask.fm, tweeting me and such. Thank you to the anonymous commenter for your comment, this post will based on the questions you asked.

"Hi, Curious to know what you're studying? Beauty/Fashion? It seems like it's a passion of yours. How do you balance study and family? Do you have siblings/boyfriend? Have you been overseas? Where would you recommend travelling to?"

Currently I'm studying Criminology, Psychology and Laws as part of my university degree being a Bachelor of Arts/Laws. This double degree is quite hectic and time consuming and sometimes I barely have time for myself, a social life with friends and my family; which does consist of a couple of siblings. I find it difficult at times to balance studying and a life because there is a lot more readings, homework and assignments than anticipated. Lectures and tutorials are also a time consuming part of being a uni student because a majority of the time classes and such are  compulsory. I will say that the social aspect of uni is something I absolutely love, I've made a number of friends just by working with them in tutorials. I have to travel more than an hour to and from uni which also takes up my time, but usually I'll try and do some readings or homework during the journey on public transport, which is a uni student's best friend because it's cheap and sometimes convenient. I must admit that I do get really lazy at home and don't tend to do chores, or ignore my friends and family at times by locking myself in my room, or going MIA on social media, so that I can finish readings, homework or assignments. I do put off plans with friends but it's become a lot easier since I've been dating someone and usually our friends are always at the same place and we try to organise things together based on whether we're busy or not. I always try to make an effort with everyone in my life and plan out every single thing, I have a routine which is difficult to stick by, organisation is the key.

Beauty and fashion are passions of mine. I love taking care of myself with a healthy diet, vitamins, and an exercise routine, natural remedies, fragrances, toiletries and skin, hair and cosmetic products. I think it's important to feel good both inside and out, and for me feeling good is about looking good so I do have a tendency to care a little bit too much about my appearance. With regards to fashion, I'm a bit of a self-confessed shopaholic like a majority of the female population in the world. However, I do shop in moderation and with accordance to sales and specials in my favourites shops and boutiques. My love of beauty and fashion is motivated by social media in a way because I love publicising what I've brought, how it looks and all that jazz, usually in the form of Instagram posts, which consist do usually consist of selfies.

To everyone's surprise and to my own surprise, I have never been overseas! It's always been something on my bucket list and hopefully I'll travel in the future. I've always wanted to travel around America and Europe, even study in one of the countries situated in these continents. All I can recommend people  to travel to is around Australia, specifically Melbourne, it is the most liveable city after all.

Once again, thank you to everyone who reads my blog, hopefully you're all enjoying it as much as I am. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Google+ much love.
