This is it the apocalips...

So this week has been a bit of a hectic week for me, I've just gone back to uni, I'm there literally every day of the week, it shall be difficult juggling education with a life but it is achievable. Amongst the craziness of uni, I've managed to try a few products and put together some outfits for everyday of the week that are practical but look good as well.

Rimmel London turns on the matte-itude with two new products. The brand new range Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet and Velvet Matte Nail Polish is following the matte trend that everyone seems to be obsessed with lately.

Upon trying the Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet I was hoping that I would get the same wear and boldness as Provocalips, you always want to look for a lip colour or lipstick that'll last you throughout the day and not come off if you're eating or drinking.

Personally, I tried the shade of Atomic Rose and I loved the feeling of putting it on. The lip velvet wasn't heavy at all, it felt so light when gliding the lip brush along my own lip. Application was simple and easy, and I think the best part about this product is that it's a one application thing, as you do want that soft, velvet feel that is promised by this lip colour, rather than applying a gloss for a shiny finish.

When applying it, the finish is even and precise, intense and pure in colour, and setting is quick, leaving your lips soft, weightless and comfortable. I can honestly say it feels like you don't even have it on, I occasionally forgot that I even had the lip velvet on because it was just so light.

If you're looking for a pop of colour and a new way to add boldness to an outfit, I highly recommend Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet, it's available now in a variety of colours for around $16 from selected stores and pharmacies.

Onto the Velvet Matte Nail Polish Collection. Now I was actually surprised by this product, when I received this nail polish, I was assuming it was an average nail polish; leaves a glossy finish, temperamental when applying and wouldn't dry quickly. This nail polish is indeed not average, when applying the nail polish you think it's going to leave a glossy finish just by looking at it, but before your eyes it turns into a velvet, smooth finish within minutes.

I was actually so confused, I'm sitting there thinking is this meant to be like this omg what is happening, and then I read about the product and sighed with relief. I made a rookie mistake putting top coat on because this nail polish doesn't need it. When I applied top coat, the next day, the nail polish was chipping and I had to reapply it all over again, thankfully, the nail polish latest throughout the week without it chipping excessively.

I advise you to apply about two coats just to get the intense colour because when it goes matte it's a little less intense but still quite bold at the same time, it's actually quite awesome. This magical, matte nail polish is available in four amazing colours, pick your favourite and try it for yourself.
